How do you write effective interpretation for a family audience? Can one strand of text really reach out to children, parents and grandparents? In this workshop we will explore:
- How to ‘hook’ a family’s interest
- Writing for a diverse age range and mixed abilities
- Simple writing techniques that work for families
- Ways to encourage inter generational conversations
- Tips for making a visit fun for all
There will be lots of writing exercises and opportunities for participants to share ideas and of course, have fun!
The workshop is being run by Cathy Lewis of Froghopper, an experienced copywriter who specialises in writing for families and children. Cathy wrote the text for two of the sites we’ll be visiting at the AHI conference – the New Display Hall at the Tank Museum, and the family guide to Corfe Castle.
This workshop runs from 9–12 noon on the morning before our annual conference opens. It costs £55 and is open to anyone, whether you are attending the conference or not. Places are limited, so please book now!
The booking form is for the conference as a whole: if you want to come to the workshop alone, just tick the box marked 'I also want to book for the Pre-conference Workshop'.
