The Workhouse History Centre

Community projects
A visitor centre for the Llanfyllin Union Workhouse, with a film to tell its story. Llanfyllin Workhouse has been owned since 2004 by a local charitable trust which aims to preserve the historic building and to provide recreational and cultural facilities as a community enterprise. It is an outstanding example of the classic workhouses built under the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834. The Workhouse History Centre is intended to provide an introduction to the building and make users and visitors aware of its significance.
